Club Notes 02/03/10

Fixtures – Competitive football returns with a bang this weekend with both Junior Bs and Junior Cs in action. The B’s face Monaghan Harps in St Marys Park on Saturday afternoon at 4PM, with the Junior C’s playing Sean McDermotts on Sunday evening at 5PM at the same venue.

Casino Night – All roads lead to the Comet Bar this Friday night for the eagerly awaited Faughs Casino Night. The event promises to be a fun night out with The Comet turned into a real live “fun” casino with full-sized Blackjack, Poker and Roulette tables. Tickets are still available from any of the senior players, or from Ned Kellys and Loughman Sports.

Scor – We had no luck at the County Scor Finals held at Ardaghy on Friday night last. Our representatives in the quiz (Michael Conlon, Seamus Greenan and Martin Brady) and our solo singer (Bernie Kellett) all performed creditably and we thank them for their efforts.

Golf Classic – The club have released more details about the club golf classic on Friday 9th of April. The venue will again be the prestigious Concra Wood Golf and Country Club. The classic will be run in traditional classic format with teams consisting of four golfers and entry per team is €240 which covers the cost of the golf plus dinner afterwards. As with last year there is a quality array of prizes on offer. Enquiries for booking timeslots can be made by calling Bob on 087 6025027 and further details can also be found on www.castleblayneyfaughs.com. Be sure to book your place early to avoid disappointment.

Best Wishes – The clubs best wishes go to Mark Treanor who suffered an injury at training last week, we hope to see him back on the field as soon as possible.

Membership – The deadline for club membership is fast approaching and anyone who has yet to pay is urged to do as soon as possible by contacting any committee member; costs for the year are €20 for an adult, €30 for a family membership and €10 for a juvenile. It is particularly important for all players to register early as they will not be covered for insurance unless they are registered members.

Support your GAA Club –Thanks to everyone who has registered for the Vodafone support your GAA club scheme which is now up and running, details of the scheme can be found at www.supportyourgaaclub.ie.
