Club Notes 06/04/10

Golf Classic – The eagerly awaited golf classic is almost on us with tomorrow (Friday) being the big day, the weather is set fair and Concra Wood is in excellent condition so it promises to be a great event. There are still one or two slots available so anyone wishing to play can contact Bob on 087 6025027.

Seniors – After several false starts, owing to Monaghan U21s prolonged campaign, the senior league will begin next Wednesday night with a trip to Ballybay for a 7.15PM throw-in.

Junior Bs – The Junior B team came away from Clontibret last Saturday with a hard earned point. A slow start saw them surrender the early initiative to Clontibret but a well taken Gerry Brady goal late in the first half saw Blayney to a half-time lead 1-3 to 0-5. Facing into a stiff breeze in the second half Blayney seemed to have a difficult task ahead of them but some resolute defending allied to a Ray McArdle goal saw they gain a well deserved share of the spoils, final score Clontibret 0-10 Faughs 2-04. This result following on the back of a narrow victory over Magheracloone sees them well placed in the table. The Junior Bs now have a break before the next fixture on 23rd April against Carrickmacross.

Junior C’s – The Junior Cs had a home game against Rockcorry last night (Wednesday), check results section for score.

Minors – The minors clash with Clontibret fell victim to the unseasonal weather last week so they began their season on Tuesday night with a home fixture against Aughnamullen (check results rection). Next Tuesday night sees them travel to play Scotstown.

U16 – The U16 campaign begins this Sunday evening when they travel to Carrickmacross for a 6PM throw-in.

U14 – U14 training on Wednesday evenings, for more details contact Ray McArdle on 087-1316947. The first league game takes place this Saturday 10th April away to Scotstown.

U12 – U12 training is on Monday evenings (7-8PM) at Our Ladys Secondary School Astro-Turf pitch and Thursday evenings (6-7PM) in the football field. Next fixture is on Saturday 17th away to Carrickmacross.
