Club Notes 08/06/10
Seniors -No Senior fixture last weekend with the county team being in action, this weekend sees them face Ballybay on Friday night in St Marys Park with an 8.00pm throw-in.
Junior B - A fast start from the Bs enabled them to comprehensively beat Donaghmoyne in their Championship encounter last Friday night. Blayney pressed from the throw-in and had 1-5 on the board within 12 minutes, the goal coming spectacularly from the boot of Aidan Ward. As the half wore on Donaghmoyne came more into the game but impressive point taking from Blayney especially two long distance efforts from Gary Ward kept Blayney well ahead. Any thoughts of a Donaghmoyne revival were extinguished early in the second half when Stephen Lynch charged up from defence to rocket not one but two excellent goals. Further points from Benny McElroy, Barry Hughes, Damian Hughes and Niall Duffy completed the scoring with Blayney finishing up 3-15 to 1-09 winners. The Bs faced Clontibret in an important league match last night (Wednesday), check results for score.
Junior C - The Cs were also in Championship action over the weekend when they played near neighbours Blackhill, after a tight first half Blayney pulled away in the second half to win 2-15 to 2-09. Brendan McElroy opened the scoring for Blayney but they were then rocked back on their heels by a Blackhill goal followed quickly by a point to give Blackhill a lead they would hold for most of the first half until a trio of late points from Brendan McElroy, Gerry Brady and Aidan Lynch gave Blayney a slender one point half time lead. Whatever the management team said at half time it had the desired effect with McElroy netting almost from the restart followed quickly by 3-4 more points. When Paddy Conlon also blasted a penalty to the net midway through the half the tie was beyond doubt and despite conceding a late goal Blayney saw time out comfortably. The Cs are in action again next Tuesday night when they travel to Emyvale for an 8.00pm throw in.
