Club Notes 10/05/10

Seniors – The Seniors flattered to deceive on Friday night when they squandered a useful half time lead when yielding to Monaghan Harps 0-15 to 1-10. Harps started the brighter and had two points on the board before Blayney opened their account with a well taken Niall Duffy point. Further points from Hanratty (0-2, 1f), McElroy (1f) and another long range point from Duffy stretched the lead to three before Harps responded with a point of their own. The first half ended with another Hanratty free restoring Blayneys three point advantage. Harps were a different team after the break and had Blayneys advantage cancelled out within five minutes and a succession of points saw them lead by four mid-way through the half. Another Hanratty point from a free reduced the arrears to three before the Harps stretched away again and despite a late Blayney rally the Harps held on for a deserved win.

Junior B – The Bs had a comfortable win against table-toppers Truagh last Wednesday evening. They lead from start to finish with goals either side of half time from the impressive Gerry Brady breaking Truaghs resistance. Further second half points from Justin Hanratty, Stephen McGeough and Barry Hughes and a late Damien Hughes goal put more daylight between the teams. Final score Faughs 3-09 Truagh 0-04. Last night (Wednesday) they played Scotstown, check results section for score.

Adult Fixtures – Busy again this weekend with all three adult teams again in action. On Friday night the Junior Cs have a home game against Killanny (7.30pm). On Saturday evening the Seniors travel to Truagh (7.00pm) and on Sunday evening the Bs are away to Monaghan Harps again at 7.00pm. Finally next Wednesday night the Bs are at home to Latton (7.30pm).

U16 –The U16s were well beaten by Monaghan Harps last Thursday night, it was a disappointing display with few players playing up to the standard expected from them, final score Faughs 0-06 Monaghan Harps 2-09. Tonight (Thursday) they play Scotstown (7.00pm).
